Brad Birchett is an intermedia artist and native to Virginia. He received a B.S. from Virginia Tech in Biology with a minor in Fine Arts. He continued his arts education at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and received an MFA degree in Visual Art from Vermont College of Fine Art in 2005.
Brad’s work involves an investigation of time through objects and physical movements. His art pieces may include (but are not limited to) documentation, sound, drawings, objects, multiples, mixed media, bio-art, collections, interventions, and installations – all layered over time.
He has exhibited his work nationally at venues such as the SCAD Museum of Art in Savannah, Georgia; Myers Gallery in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Prescott College Gallery in Prescott, Arizona; Studio Montclair in Montclair, New Jersey; Delicious Spectacle Gallery in Washington, DC; The Center for Book Arts in New York; Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee; and at Space Gallery in Portland, Maine. His work has also been in international exhibitions at Philara Gallery in Düsseldorf Germany, Crou’n Haitai Gallery in Seoul Korea, and Imagine Gallery in Bejing China.
Brad has curated many exhibitions including the recent Richard Carlyon: A Retrospective – Interval for 1708 Gallery.
Brad works and resides in Richmond, Virginia where he is an Assistant Professor and Advisor for VCU School of the Arts and University College.
